** Educate patients diagnosed with a variety of illnesses to better understand and manage their conditions
** Use discharge planning skills to promote independence, maximize function and return patients to their homes

As an Occupational Therapists/ OT you will:

• To provide Occupational Therapy services to patients/clients throughout the life span, who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in their physical, cognitive or psychosocial function resulting from injury, disease, or other health risks.
• Upon referral from a physician, the occupational therapist interacts and practices in collaboration with other healthcare professionals providing services to prevent disability and impairment and to promote health and wellness.
• Integrates all elements of patient management (evaluation, intervention plan, reevaluation, and discharge/follow-up) according to individual need and age specific criteria, and in a manner to maximize patient outcomes.
• Includes patient/client, family/significant other, or caregiver in development of appropriate interventions, goals and discharge plan.
• Provides Occupational Therapy interventions using appropriate therapeutic methods, and techniques to produce changes in the condition and function that are consistent with the diagnosis, prognosis and discharge plan.
• Performs accurate and timely documentation including billing.
• Delegates appropriately to supportive personnel.

Requirements for an Occupational Therapists/OT:

• You must be a graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education.
• You must be nationally certified or eligible for certification by the National Board for the Certification of Occupational Therapy and hold and/or be eligible for appropriate state licensure, certification or registration.
• Must possess the ability to work independently and in a team.
• Must possess the skills necessary to problem solve and be able to demonstrate good judgment and decision making.
• Active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association is desirable.
